It’s always important to start the season on a good note. The Westminster Owls boys lacrosse team has started the season off with a Big Bang!

The Owls, in their first couple games have a combined 42-goals scored. That’s due in large part to this week’s Peace Report Boys Player of the Week sponsored by Rock Lacrosse Club.

Owls sophomore Bubba Love (Fantastic name….and just recently named to the Rock Lacrosse National team), had a 9-point game (4 goals, 5 assists) against fellow public school power, Dulaney. The Owls won 20–5. Then Love had a double-double day (2 goals, 2 helpers) in a 22–4 Westminster victory against nearby Carroll County rivals, South Carroll.

Love comes from a family of Carroll County star lacrosse players. All of Bubba’s older brothers (Spencer, Travis and Ben) were Carroll County Times Players of the Year. All three brothers played for Winters Mill. Bubba transferred to Westminster from Winters Mill during the offseason.

The Owls have a huge game coming up this week (Tuesday) when Westminster will host private school team Mount Saint Joseph, led by the great Stephen Berger. With the way Westminster has been putting up points and the talent the Gaels have the private vs. public matchup should be a good one.
