Mid Atlantic Lacrosse Academy announces 2017 Summer Instructional Camp and Individual Showcase at Towson University on July 28 and July 2019, 2017 for 2021, 2020, 2019 and 2018 graduation years.
Instructional camp and individual showcase will combine advanced NCAA level instruction including film/classroom work with 90–120 minute position and team practices with an Individual Showcase platform where participants can implement what was learned during the instructional camp in front of NCAA coaches.
“With NCAA Proposal 2017–1 slowing down the pace of division I recruiting, NCAA coaches will begin to shift their focus from recruiting young players based upon a fairly small evaluation time period and book of work to evaluating student athletes over a longer period, watching how players development progresses…says Hugh Donovan, Head Coach at Immaculata University and Mid Atlantic Lacrosse Academy Director….the Mid Atlantic Lacrosse Academy matches up well with the new pace of recruiting as NCAA coaches can evaluate MALA participants based upon their ability to learn advanced skills and then implement them in a competitive game setting, while watching them develop as they maneuver through our fall, winter and summer camp programs.”
Headquartered in Brooklandville, Maryland the Mid Atlantic Lacrosse Academy was developed to provide players from throughout North America an advanced training platform, focused on developing skills consistent with what is being coached at the NCAA level in a highly competitive and challenging environment. Academy participants are represented by lacrosse student-athletes playing nationally at an elite level, looking for an advanced training platform that will prepare them for continued play at the highest level in high-school and in the future for an NCAA program.
“College coaches want to recruit players that understand the concepts being utilized by the top NCAA programs. Players that arrive with a new recruiting class that do not understand these concepts struggle to fully integrate and become contributors early in their NCAA careers…says Kyle Wimer former USILA All American, MLL veteran and Assistant Director Mid Atlantic Lacrosse Academy….” the MALA platform offers players from throughout the country an opportunity to augment their existing lacrosse experience with advanced NCAA level instruction.”
All academy staff members, directors and coaches are current or former NCAA coaches and MLL, NLL players or coaches who have established an exceptional track record sending players to NCAA programs. Academy curriculum is focused on advanced NCAA and box lacrosse skills delivered in small group, individual 120 minute NCAA structured practices.
