The @Big12Lacrosse Individual Showcase Recap! (Includes Top Players that Impressed)
The Big 12 Summer Invitational got underway today at Johns Hopkins’ Homewood Field with the Individual Showcase.
Players, who signed up through registering, from all over the country came to play. There were Laxers from, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, Canada, and of course all parts of Maryland.
The Showcase opened with an NCAA coaches clinic.
Then at 2:15 teams were broken up into grades (2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021).
Here are some of the players who stood out: (In no particular order)
Alexander Culbertson: Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (PA), 2018, Attack: Culbertson stood out right away in the first game, scoring a couple goals. Alexander showed solid footwork and speed.
Richard Myros: Hampton HS (PA), 2018, Attack: Myros had a nice feed to Culbertson for an assist in one of the games. This kid hustles and moves the ball well. Is unselfish.
Chase Young: Cumberland Valley (PA), 2018, D/LSM: Loved the wing play by Young on faceoffs. Made some solid checks. Young showed quickness and good Lax I.Q.
Charles Hayes: Selinsgrove Area HS (PA), 2019, Attack: Hayes caught the eyes of some of the Division I colleges that were there watching. Good stick and has a lethal shot on cage. Impressive skills.
Edward Pope: McDonogh (MD), 2019, FO/M: Pope has quick hands at the face. Won some great battles. Pope is a Inner Circle student and it shows he’s going to be a force for the Eagles next season.
Trey Glass: Warwick (PA), 2020, Attack, Glass had a sweet goal in one of the 2020 games that was right on the crease. Pretty nifty skills! Liked his positive body language.
Joseph Fiorenza: York Catholic (PA), 2020, Midfield: Fiorenza can play two-way. And he can also faceoff. The uncommitted sophomore has a 3.5 GPA. Very smart on the field with solid conditioning.
Joshua Schreibels, Seneca Valley (PA), 2018, LSM, Schreibels ha fun playing the game. Great speed and good movement when guarding. Slides well. Doesn’t lunge. Should be committed somewhere soon.
Benjamin Rivera: La Salle (PA), 2019, Defense. Rivera is a tall and athletic kid. Strong checks and footwork. Has a 4.0 GPA and should have a big summer. Alexander Decker: Eisenhower, 2018, Defense: Decker had a great check that forced a turnover. Loved his Lax I.Q. And quick hands. Picks up the ground balls with ease. Impressive defender.

The Invitational begins Saturday at Blandair Park in Columbia, Md. Pitting some of the country’s top club programs against the each other, Madlax, Orange Crush, Edge, Georgia Thunder, Rock Lacrosse (Md and Pa), and Team 757.
