This past weekend, Big12Lacrosse Events introduced the North American Club Lacrosse Championship.
For the last several years, Kevin Mayer and his staff at Big12Lacrosse have put on a Fall and Summer Invitationals. This summer Mayer wanted the clubs that participated in the Invitational to have something to play for. Instead of just games and an All Star game.
A number of club programs participated in the NACLC from all parts of the country. There was programs from Texas, North and South Carolina’s, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and of course the DMV.
All of the club programs competed at theee different grade levels for this event, 2019–2021.
Saturday was games to figure out standings going into Sunday’s NACLC. And coming out as champions in each level was the Rock Lacrosse Club for the 2019 and 2021 grades. And the Dukes based out of Pennsylvania, won the 2020 title.
Randall Brown — Shipley, (Pa.)2020, Middie, Duke’s ; Brown was a scoring machine during the two day event. Making big plays and moved the ball well. Excellent stick skills.
2.Nathan Fasanaro — Wando HS (S.C.), 2020 Att, Duke’s ; Fasanaro has a complete game. Fundamentally sound. Good Lax IQ. Love this kids motor.
3.Jack Naughton, Shady Side Academy (Pa.), 2020, Attack, Dukes; Dukes had a number a terrific players at each grade level at the event. Naughton has a powerful shot on cage. Good off ball.
4.Greg Clark, Academy Of the New Church (Pa.), 2020, Defense, Dukes; Clark is a excellent defender with solid footwork. Positioned himself well when playing the ball carrier. Is aggressive when pursuing ground balls.
5.Chase Young, Middle Creek (SC), 2019, Defense, 919 Elite — Young came to play and was great all weekend. Young had a couple good checks that led to turnovers.
6. Billy Briegel, Penn Manor (Pa.), 2019, Defense, Rock; Briegel is committed to Hartford. The rising senior defenseman had a great weekend. Great checks and is always talking and has his stick up. Good positioning as well when defending the ball carrier.
7. Drew Snelbaker, York Catholic (Pa.),2020, Rock; Snelbaker continues to have a great summer season. The York county FO/M won some big faceoffs during the weekend. Snelbaker was also lights out in the Mason Dixon Showcase earlier in the week.
8.Cole Manos — Calverton (Md.),2019, Attack, 365 Lax — the VMI Commit anchored the attack with 15 points (9g’s & 5a’s). Impressed with Manos’ leadership and stick skills have improved since his sophomore year.
9. Nick Ransom, Calverton (Md.), 2019 Goalie, 365 Lax; Ransom recently made the UA All America Team. This past season he played up a year & helped a high powering offenses to under 3–4 goals in each half he played. The rising junior netminder made some big saves over the weekend. In the game I saw him Ransom made three consecutive saves on some tough shots.
10. Ryan McGuinness Jr., Red Land HS (Pa.), 2020, Attack, Rock; McGuinness has good field sense and is always moving the ball and setting up the offense. Ryan is excellent on transition and either burying a shot or coming away with a great assist.
11.Bryan Creamer, Ramsey (NJ), 2021, FO/M, NJ Thunder; Creamer was sensational at the faceoff X for NJ Thunder. He and Ethan Cronk also a 2021 midfielders/FO only lost 3 combined faceoffs the entire weekend.
12. Seamus Kearney, South Carroll HS (Md.), 2021, Defense/LSM, Rock, Kearney was running all over the field. Hustling after ground balls and creating turnovers. Kearney was excellent against NJ Thunder on Sunday.
13. Jack Todd, Shady Side Academy (Pa.), 2021, Midfield, Dukes, Todd had some pretty nifty goals on Saturday. The rising sophomore is exciting to watch play. Good stick skills and will continue to shine this summer.
14. Nicholas Azzopardi, Wayne Hills (NJ), 2019, LSM, NJ Riot; Committed to Wagner, the rising senior long-stick middie had a great weekend. A number of the college coaches on hand raved about his skills.
15. Jack Greco, Randolph (NJ), 2019, Defense, NJ Riot Morris; Noted that Greco has a nice Lax IQ, Gets to the GB’s, and hustles on clears.
16. Isaiah Hines, Boys’ Latin (Md.), 2020, Attackman, Rock; Hines is a hard worker. Sets up the offense well, distributes the ball with crisp passes. Lightning quick feet.
17. Bryce Reece, Lenape (NJ),2019, Midfield, Dukes; Reece ripped it up. Excellent lacrosse player with a fast shot. Good hands and he moves his feet well. Has D1 potential. Will continue to get better.
18.Drew Lenkaitis, Unionville (Pa.), 2019, Attackman, Dukes; Lenkaitis has a monster shot on cage. Does the little things well. Another solid Lax IQ guy.
19.Bryson Miller, Midlothian (Va.), Midfield, 2020, C2CLax; Miller stood out right away as one of the best middies on the field for C2CLAX. Miller dodges well, he sets the pick well, love his energy level. Great at playing 2-way midfield.
20.Cole Schmitt, Prosper (TX), 2020, Attack, C2clax; Schmitt is a top recruit from the state of Texas. He has the Division 1 game at Attack. Good stick, excellent foot speed. Has a great move towards cage. Vicious shot on cage.
