Tommy Clayton is just looking forward to representing the state of Ohio and having fun this weekend in the Under Armour Underclass tournament held at Towson University.

The St. Francis DeSales star, who will be playing for the Midwest Highlight team, is coming off a tremendous season scoring 67 goals and had 24 assists. Along with 18 Ground Balls . Guiding the Stallions (20–2) to their first state championship since 2012.

Clayton committed to Jacksonville University, and aiming to be a Business major, in his sophomore year and is happy to be done with the recruiting process and ready to embrace the weekend.

PRLB did a Q&A with the Resolute Club member.

Peace Report Lax Blog: How does it feel to be selected for the Under Armour Underclass event?

Tommy Clayton: It’s an honor to be selected to participate in this event.

PRLB: What’s it mean to you to get some excellent exposure to how you play the game in front of College coaches?

Clayton: I am looking forward to getting coached by the best and I’m really excited to get to represent Ohio and the Midwest.

PRLB: How long have you been playing lacrosse?

Clayton: I started playing in 3rd grade.

PRLB: How did your high school team do this season?

Clayton: (20–2 record) We won the State Championship for the first time since 2012!

PRLB: What are you trying to improve on skill wise this summer?

Clayton: I’m working on my off-ball movement and cutting. I want to always be working to get into the right spot to make a play when my team needs it.

PRLB: What kind of sticks do you play with?

Clayton: STX Surgeon and Stringking Metal 2 with Hero Mesh

PRLB: Name the favorite song your listening to now.

Clayton: Finesse Remix by Bruno Mars feat. Cardi B

PRLB: What’s your favorite movie?

Clayton: Avengers: Infinity War

PRLB: In your opinion what’s the best part of your game?

Clayton: Working within tight space and being a physical scorer. I play a ton of Box Lacrosse and it helps me operating around the crease.

PRLB: Now, finally being committed and how it feels to not have the stress from that process anymore. And why did you choose Jacksonville?

Clayton: I was an early commit (winter of Sophomore year). Leading up to that time it was pretty stressful though. I did some prospect days my Freshman year and then skipped playing Football my Sophomore year so that I could make some visits and do some fall showcases. I narrowed it down to the things that were most important to me and I decided that JU was the best fit. It was tough as a sophomore because I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to study in college, but JU had some great options academically. They have a great business program and their sports management opportunities are terrific. I liked the size of the school and obviously the location in Florida is awesome for a spring sport like lacrosse. After I met with Coaches Galloway, Libel, and Powell I was sure that they had an awesome vision for what they wanted to build at JU. I am really excited to be able to help them become a national contender.
