When the term brick wall is used to describe amazing goaltenders in Lacrosse, that term rings true for Greenhill (TX) rising junior Lindsey Maxwell.

Maxwell doesn’t just make pinpoint saves, she also is an excellent leader and in her eyes is the last defender to pursue the ball carrier running to cage. Maxwell isn’t afraid to step out from the crease and lay a check on someone or hustle to scoop up a ground ball.

This past spring, Lindsey was a force in the cage for Greenhill. Totaling 45 saves and averaging 5.37 GAA. She was part of the Greenhill School DII Texas State Champions — back to back 2017 and 2018.

The 214 Lacrosse star is also a multi-sport athlete, playing Field Hockey and Basketball.

The PRLB did a Q&A with Lindsey and got her thoughts on representing Texas this weekend and getting some exposure to Division 1 Coaches.

PRLB: How does it feel to be selected for the Under Armour Underclass event?

Lindsey Maxwell: Coming from Texas, I am always grateful for any opportunity I receive to travel and play on the East Coast against great competition. It is very rewarding to have been selected to represent the Southwest division at this prestigious tournament.

PRLB: What’s it mean to you to get some excellent exposure to how you play the game in front of College coaches?

Maxwell: With my junior year starting this fall, this is an important summer for me to get on coaches’ radars and showcase my best skills as a player. I take my position and the sport very seriously, so I look forward to playing in front of college coaches this weekend!

PRLB: How long have you been playing lacrosse?

Maxwell: I have been playing lacrosse since I was in second grade, so nine years this fall.

PRLB: How did you feel Greenhill did this season?

Maxwell: I am very pleased with Greenhill’s performance this season. Due to some setbacks, we still managed to win the division II district and state championships for the second season in a row. It was a great highlight of my sophomore year. We will be missing some key players who graduated this season, but I am excited to step up as an upperclassman and lead my team to another successful season next year!

PRLB: What are you trying to improve on skill wise this summer?

Maxwell: Playing the position of goalie for so long, it is still important to work on the basics. It is easy to fall into habits when I play for an extended period. I constantly work on simple skills, such as positioning and exploding to the ball. The most important skill I always try to improve on is my reaction time. As players get stronger and shots get faster, I have to meet the same standard as a goalie.

PRLB: What kind of sticks do you play with?

Maxwell: I love switching different shafts and heads to see what is most effective. Right now, I am using the STX Shield 2 with a composite Under Armour attack shaft.

PRLB: Name the favorite song your listening to now.

Maxwell: My favorite artist at the moment is Khalid, so any of his songs. Also, I am a huge country fan, so any of the popular music right now.

PRLB: What’s your favorite movie?

Maxwell: One from M. Night Shalaman, like The Village. I love the twists at the end.

PRLB: In your opinion what’s the best part of your game?

Maxwell: I think I am a pretty active goalie. I invest fully in that I am the last defender, so if there is a chance I need to come out of the cage, I will. If I come out of the goal circle to create a play, then I consider that game successful.

PRLB: Has the new recruiting rules made the searching for college process easier for you?

Maxwell: For sure. Since last year, I know I have changed interests and have matured more. Although it would have seemed cool to be able to commit sooner, I am very content with waiting for the process that will start this fall.
