PLB Q&A with Sophie Fields

Senior Midfield from Plano West HS (TX) – Plays club for 214 Lacrosse – Recently committed to the University of Cincinnati

Thank You’s

My mom has been my rock through my lacrosse journey, she has funded every trip and excursion and has always been my biggest fan. My coaches- Coach Fortney, Coach Lellie and especially my recruiting coach, Coach Morgan, have helped me tremendously through the process. My coaches have always provided support and made me the best player and person I could possibly be by pushing me to work hard constantly.

PEACE LACROSSE BLOG: What made you choose this school?

SOPHIE FIELDS: I chose UC because once I stepped foot on the campus I felt at home. The players also made me feel super welcome and were supportive of me even before I committed there.

PLB: How has the COVID-19 Pandemic affected you?

SF: On a positive note the Covid-19 pandemic has allowed me time to work hard on becoming a stronger athlete. It has also allowed me time to focus on my school work as well as my job and other extra curricular activities that I take part in. Covid has affected my family negatively as well, my mom has been unemployed for several months due to layoffs caused by Covid.

PLB: How would you describe your recruiting process?

SF: My recruiting process was somewhat fast, I knew what target schools I had in mind and I proceeded to showcase myself at the camps run by those schools. When September 1st came around I patiently waited to hear from colleges, and once I did I then again went to camps to show off my skills. I committed a month after September 1st to the school that I felt was right for me.
