PLB COMMITTED Q&A: COLLIN ROVERE

WAYNE VALLEY (NJ) & Tri State Lacrosse 2022 Midfielder – Committed to Hobart University
Q&A: COLLIN ROVERE
Peace Lacrosse Blog: What made you decide to commit to Hobart?
Collin Rovere: I choose Hobart for many reasons. Hobart offers an architecture major which is my current career interest. Coach Raymond, Coach Brundage and Coach Turri really treated my process with care and showed me through calls and film examples exactly where I could fit in on the team. I believe I will be given an opportunity to make an immediate impact and that was a factor in my process. The Seneca Lake location was beautiful and the history of the Hobart program was inspiring.

PLB: How has the COVID-19 Pandemic affected you?
CR: The shutdown was difficult for many people. In my hometown, about 30 minutes from NYC, we lost almost 200 people and so I have tried to keep a proper perspective. However, the lack of school structure, lack of sports and time with friends and family was challenging. I worked out on my own or with my brother to stay in shape and used the First Class Online program, Deemer Class, throughout the Spring to stay in condition, however it took its toll. I was happy to get back to the field with my Club, Tri State Lacrosse, over the summer.
PLB: How would you describe your recruiting process?
CR: It is definitely exciting to receive contact on September 1st. However Coach after Coach has told me it is a 40 year decision. Once the initial excitement sunk in, I tried to focus on several key areas to narrow down my search. Coaching style, degrees offered, a program that embraced a two way middie and impression of the campus in person or virtually were all part of my process.
PLB: What kind of stick do you play with?
CR: Maverick Kinetic Head, ECD Hero Mesh and Under Armour shaft
PLB: Favorite Quotes that You Live By?
CR: “Stupid people never learn, smart people learn from their mistakes, wise people learn from others mistakes.”
PLB: What do you do for fun?
CR: I hang out with friends, play lacrosse, fish, play video games and play other sports.
PLB: What do you want to be when you grow up? And Why?
CR: I would like to be an architect or community planner, I enjoy planning things out that involve building. I enjoy the creative aspect of those professions as well. I think I that interest started from playing with legos so much when I was young.
PLB: Once Coronavirus is over where would you like to visit?
