LAX ON COMBINE III

On Sunday, May 23, LAX ON LLC held their third Combine event.

LAX ON LLC has been providing this opportunity for the players in the local Long Island area to get some instruction and skill work in during the pandemic.

The Combines also allow college coaches that have not been able to recruit players in person to watch the LiveStream via Varsity Media on Youtube to get a glimpse at what these top prospects can do.

Coaches are looking for specific attributes, skill level and work ethic from the players they recruit. And the folks at LAXON being former collegiate athletes and coaches at that level, know exactly how to train these athletes.

Not only are these players excellent on the field but they put the work in in the classroom and carry close to or at a 4.0 GPA.

There are players who attended the Combine who are members of a club organization and some that do not play club lacrosse at all.

Vanessa Windsor (Founder and Master Coach), Robyn Rooney (Director of Recruitment and Master Coach) and the staff at LAX ON LLC, aren’t putting these events on to try and change up what the players are learning from their high school or club programs. This Combine is just a chance for the players to get some work in and to show their skill level to the college coaches tuning into the Livestream.

Unlike the previous Combines, this one was scheduled during the high school season in progress. So the 15 players who showed up looked in shape and the fundamentals were sharp.

PLB was very impressed with every player on hand. Below, our very own Tom Peace provided a Write – Up on each player.

WRITE UP'S

2022’s

JESSICA VEINI – Attack – New Hyde Park (NY) – No Club Association

Jessica did a fantastic job of moving the ball and displaying good footwork. Made some nice shots on cage.

AMELIA DUPONT – Midfield – Trinity School (NY) – FLG Lacrosse

DuPoint is a kid who hustles on every play and shares the ball well. You can tell Amelia works on her game on her own time.

ABIGAIL O’CONNOR – Attack / Midfield – Miller Place (NY) -LAX ON ELITE

O’Connor is a tremendous athlete with a great skill-set. A player who moves the ball with ease and shoots on cage well.

SKYLAR GOODMAN – Goalie – Kellenberg (NY) – LAX ON ELITE

Goodman has improved from the second Combine from March. Being in season and seeing shots and working on her game helps with that. Skylar moves well between the pipes. Good communicator.

2023’s

JULIA NICHOLSON – Midfield – Wantagh (NY) – LI Legacy Blue

Julia is a do – it -all midfielder with a great eye for the ball. Quicks are good, sees the field well, shows good footwork. Julia scored a beautiful goal during the scrimmage portion.

OLIVIA NICHOLSON – Midfield – Wantagh (NY) – LI Legacy Blue

Wantagh is fortunate to have both Olivia and Julia on their team. Olivia is also a very quick and fast. Cradles the ball well and Nicholson has some good dodges to get to cage. A legit playmaker.

KIERA MILLETT – Midfield – Ward Melville (NY) – FLG Lacrosse

Millett has good LAX IQ and communicates well when carrying the ball. Has good leadership qualities and is coachable.

LEA GLASS – Defense -Poly Prep Country (NY) – Brooklyn Crescents –

Glass is also a tremendous athlete with good grasp of the game. Defends well and shows good positioning when matched up on a ball -carrier. Lea is going to have a huge summer on the tournament circuit.

GRACE CURTIN – Attack / Midfield – Rocky Point (NY) – LI LEGACY TEAL

Curtin is also going to have a huge summer. The Rocky Point star sophomore is having an excellent high school season. We love the way Curtin shows confidence and hustles well.

SYDNEYANNA GIARDINI – Midfield – Longwood HS (NY) LI Yellow Jackets

Giardini benefited well from the Combine. Getting an opportunity to show her skills. The Longwood sophomore has a great Lax IQ and shows great footwork.

RORY HESLIN – Midfield – Garden City (NY) – Liberty Lacrosse

Heslin looks to be another star in the making for Garden City. A strong and athletic kid with good a work ethic. Rory also shows good confidence and leadership skills.

2024’s

NEAVE BOWMAN – Attack – Massapequa (NY) – LI Jesters

We’ve seen some highlights on Bowman’s play this spring and were impressed with what we saw from the freshman at the Combine. Neave moves around the cage well and shows some sick dodges. Is unselfish and takes care of the ball. Keep an eye on Bowman this Summer.

MCKENNA JACOBS – Midfield – St. Dominic (NY) – LI Jesters

Jacobs looked to be in great shape and ready to go from the start. She too looks to be a player who works on her game on her own time. McKenna shows good foot speed and agility.

LAUREN PERFETTO – Midfield – Manhasset (NY) – FLG Lacrosse

Perfetto is, in our opinion, arguably one of the best 2024’s on Long Island. And she is still getting better every time she touches a lacrosse stick. Lauren has D1 potential and should be on every College Coaches radars.
